Aspects Of Peformance
In the video of Bowling For Soup 1985 the majority of it is performance based due to the video using the artists. In the video the band also plays aswell with guitars and they use funny dance routines.

The mode of address is directive as he sings and talks to the camera. There is a lack of indirective address due to the lack of narration.
The Narrative
The narration of the video is linear as there are no flashbacks. There is a clear beginning middle and end which consists the story of the band trying to attract a dependent woman and trying to make her like them as she is seen as sensible.
How the artist is shown through the music video
The video shows the band as being funny and not taking themselves seriously for example a few band members wear dresses and heels they are also seen as lazy due to them sitting down and resting at the beginning for example a band member is lay in a pool. The video also shows them as being unique and as jokers. They are not superficial in any way.

The visual elements of the video show that it is amplifying the lyrics as it is going beyond them. The costumes which are used are from different videos and different genres this shows a contrast to the band and also portrays them as being funny they are also mocking the outfits worn by some artists.
Mise en scene
The settings which are used are in an ordinary traditional American house this shows the background of the artists. The garage also suggests that they are ordinary and have just started out. The shorts and tshirts and the swimming shorts that they are wearing emphasise that it is summer and shows that ordinary. The sun chairs also are very old and tatty which suggests they are trying to be seen as students or unwealthy. There is also use of roses this shows nature and beauty which they are trying to present the woman as. The woman is seen as ordinary due to her wearing cardigans and dresses she is also quite oldfashioned. There is also use of a paddling pool, an electrical car and toys this shows that the artists are childish.
Camera Use
The video begins with an extreme close up of an electrical car this suggests already that the band are immature and are not serious. There is also examples of establishing shots to emphasise settings there is also a two shot which show the couple are at an equal status. There is examples of close ups to show affection and emotion. The zoom is used to emphasis his shock and there are also two closeups one of them the man is picking his feet and the woman is tidying the garden this shows a contrast. The editing which is used is match on action to emphasise the woman walking, eye line match to show the bands point of view and shot reverse shot to create conflict. The simple effects are simple with the use of wipe and jump shots and dissolve which shows his point of view through binocolars.
Genre
The genre of the music is pop punk as the lyrics have no strong meanings and the beat shows it is a catchy and a fun song.
Audience/Music Channel
.The audience are teenagers due to the lyrics being simple and silly this video will likely to be played on Kerrang, VH1 and Smash Hits.
